– AmplifyRP® Acceler8® for FOV4 is a rapid DNA amplification and detection platform designed for field-based or laboratory testing of cotton crops for Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vasinfectum, Race 4 (FOV4).

Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. vasinfectum is the causal agent of Fusarium wilt disease in cotton. There are several races of FOV distributed worldwide. Race 4 has significance because, unlike other races, it does not require co-infection with root-knot nematodes to cause disease symptoms. It is also highly virulent and can cause rapid decline of infected seedlings, resulting in significant yield loss.

AmplifyRP® Acceler8® enables users to rapidly amplify target DNA or RNA at a single operating temperature using only a crude sample extract. Amplified product is then tested in an Amplicon Detection Chamber where clear “yes / no” results are read visually on a lateral flow strip (much like a pregnancy test). The entire testing process can be completed in as little as 30 minutes by users of any skill level.

This assay is specific to race 4 of FOV and does not cross-react with other races except for an Egyptian race 3 isolate, FOV1857. This test is recommended for testing stem or leaf tissue.
