Two Proven Detection Technologies
Every contaminant in our catalog can be screened using at least one of two complementary immunoassay formats, each optimized for a different stage of the food safety workflow.
ELISA Test Kits
Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay kits deliver quantitative results with detection limits in the low parts-per-billion range. Ideal for regulatory compliance testing in laboratory settings. 96-well microplate format with colorimetric readout.
Rapid Test Strips
Lateral flow immunochromatographic strips provide qualitative or semi-quantitative results in 5 to 15 minutes. Designed for on-site screening at processing plants, farms, and inspection checkpoints. No specialized equipment required.
Why Food Safety Residue Testing Matters
Antibiotic and chemical residues in food products pose serious public health risks, from antimicrobial resistance to allergic reactions and endocrine disruption. Regulatory agencies worldwide, including Health Canada, the USDA, the European Food Safety Authority, and the Codex Alimentarius Commission, enforce strict maximum residue limits (MRLs) on veterinary drugs, pesticides, mycotoxins, and hormones in food of animal origin.
Immunoassay-based screening is the internationally recognized first-line method for residue monitoring. ELISA kits allow laboratories to quantify analyte concentrations against calibration curves, while rapid test strips enable real-time pass/fail decisions at the point of production. Together, these technologies form a tiered testing strategy that balances throughput, sensitivity, and cost-effectiveness.
Antibiotic Residue Monitoring
Our antibiotic residue portfolio covers the major veterinary drug classes: nitrofurans (AMOZ, AOZ, AHD, SEM), tetracyclines, sulfonamides, quinolones, beta-lactams (ampicillin, amoxicillin, penicillin), macrolides (tylosin, erythromycin, tilmicosin), aminoglycosides (gentamicin, streptomycin, kanamycin, neomycin), and chloramphenicol. These kits are validated for a wide range of food matrices including fish, shrimp, poultry, pork, beef, honey, milk, eggs, and animal tissue.
Mycotoxin Contamination Screening
Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites produced by Aspergillus, Fusarium, and Penicillium molds that contaminate grains, feed, nuts, and dairy products. We stock ELISA and rapid test kits for aflatoxin B1, total aflatoxins, aflatoxin M1 (in milk), deoxynivalenol (DON/vomitoxin), zearalenone, fumonisin B1, ochratoxin A, and T-2 toxin. Detection limits start as low as 0.01 ppb.
Hormone and Veterinary Drug Residues
Growth-promoting hormones (clenbuterol, ractopamine, salbutamol, diethylstilbestrol) and other regulated veterinary drugs (melamine, amantadine, avermectin, olaquindox) are monitored to ensure compliance with import/export regulations. Our kits detect these analytes in animal tissue, serum, urine, feed, and processed meat products.
