DL-α-Hydroxyglutaric acid disodium salt is an α -hydroxyacid formed from the hydrolysis of (R) -5-oxy-2-tetrahydrofuran carboxylic acid, which is overproduced in human neurometabolic disease D-α -hydroxyglutaric uria.
