– SHLP-6, a mitochondria-derived peptide, is encoded by the MT-RNR2 genes 16S ribosomal RNA (MT-RNR2). This bioactive microprotein enhances apoptosis (apoptosis) in NIT-1 pancreatic tumor cells and 22Rv1 human prostate cancer cells. SHLP-6 is useful for research into diabetes and cancer.
