– 3-Indolyl-β-D-glucuronide is a chromogenic substrate for β-D-glucuronidase, used in detecting and counting E. coli, and produces a blue precipitate upon cleavage. It also serves as a novel indicator of renal failure in patients’ plasma [1] [2].
