Product Description

– Penicillin-streptomycin solution, also known as Pen-Strep, is the most commonly used combined antibiotic solution against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. Penicillin can directly interfere with the synthesis of bacterial cell wall and indirectly alter the cell wall by triggering enzymatic reactions. Streptomycin can bind to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome, and inhibit the synthesis of bacterial protein, ultimately leading to the death of susceptible bacteria. The solution is used to supplement cell culture media to control bacterial contamination. TargetMol’s penicillin streptomycin solution (100x) is a sterile, filtered and ready-to-use antibiotic solution for cell culture. This solution contains 10,000 units/mL of penicillin and 10 mg/mL of streptomycin, prepared in 0.9% NaCI. It is recommended for use in cell culture application at 100 units/mL of penicillin and 0.1 mg/mL of streptomycin. Dilute the product 100-fold for use.
