– (2E,13Z)-Octadecadienal is a component isolated from the pheromone of certain insects, such as the clearwing borer (Synanthedon tipuliformis (Clerck)) or the raspberry crown borer (Pennisetia marginata (Harris)). It is derived from (2E,13Z)-Octadecadienyl acetate, which provokes a strong antennal response in males.
